Do you own a website and care in the slightest whether or not it has visibility in Google search results in the years to come?
If yes: then go and get a personal profile on Google Plus NOW.
That’s the gist of something I tweeted yesterday, and one reader answered:
“I don’t know a single person actually using Google Plus.”
I told him then, and I’m telling you now: that may be true, but it is COMPLETELY beside the point.
Everybody thinks that Google Plus is just a Facebook clone.
It’s not.
Actually – like its name suggests – it’s the latest, logical extension of Google’s search engine…
What is increasingly happening now is that when Google offers up a search result for a query, it is giving you search results based on whether or not people in your Google Plus ‘circles’ (connections) wrote or recommended them.
This is a huge new development. And what it means is this…
To have your pages recommended more often in this new world of Google ‘social search’, you need to a) have a Google Plus profile and b) link your website pages to your Google Plus profile.
As a bonus, when you do this, your Google Plus profile picture will appear alongside web pages created by you in Google search results – most people haven’t cottoned onto this yet but those that have are typically seeing click through rate increases of around 30%.
That’s huge.
It also follows that the more people’s Google Plus circles you are in, the more likely it is that your web pages will come up in search results in the future.
Website owner? Google+ is a complete no-brainer for you. Connect with me there now...
